Staying awake for Conan

I helped out at the Grenadier with the Cnib metropass distribution. I was early so I grabbed a Vitamin Water, they remind me of being in California. The last time I helped out I just waited by the door to help people to the back of the lobby to where the ladies exchanged the old pass for a new one. I didn't have anything to read and it sucked, cause it wasn't busy and a lot of waiting. This time I came prepared and had a much better time. I read a script and also got to spend some time talking to the two older ladies who were also helping out. It was nice.

I gotta watch Conan now, switching to Letterman at commercials where possible.

Take Control

The title of this blog has nothing to do with the post, I'm just listening to Weezer demos. But I think I might just use Weezer song titles when I can't think up a good title from now on.

I met Grandma at the mall really early. She bought me breakfast. I got an omelet at Marche, it was good. I rode the train up with her so we could continue our conversation.

I dug out my Beer Store coat, I can't believe I waited so long. It's so much warmer than the leather jacket I've been wearing. It always turns heads when I wear it. People will stop and ask me where I got it, and I tell em my Dad worked there.

I went to the gym for the second time this month. Good Life added advertising screens in the change room, not so classy. I have to step up my workouts if I'm going to get my sixty bucks worth, and rock a fit bod on the Playa.

Paul and I walked back to his place after he finished work. It was a nice night, so the walk was pleasant. He was meeting up with a guy off Craigslist to trade audio equipment and wanted me to be there as his muscle, I guess. The trade went well and Paul didn't get raped so I did my job.

I'm volunteering again tomorrow with the CNIB. Distributing metropasses to CNIB clients at a retirement home, which was boring last time, but I'm gonna bring a script to read and pass the time. Looking forward to it.

This is a shitty post, I will try harder tomorrow I swear.

blog four nine nine

It's Howard Stern's 56th birthday!

I helped out with the CNIB Metropass distribution again, this time at the Grenadier Retirement Community. It was slow and boring. Being around all those old people made me want to hang out with Granny Mo, she called today and we're going to meet up tomorrow morning after her computer lesson at the Mac store.

I watched the first episode of the new Kids In the Hall series, Death comes to Town. I was not impressed, but I want to reserve judgement till I see the second episode next week.

It's my birthday next week, I don't expect you to get me anything but if you did wouldn't this be awesome!?!

This EL Wire pack would be kick ass, and can be found here. It would come in handy for Burning Man (maybe even Igloofest).

Youth in Revolt

I know its still just the beginning of January, but Youth in Revolt will prove to be one of the funniest movies of the year. It's a big weekend for movies I missed at Tiff. If I had seen this back in September it would have made my 2009 list for sure.

HP and I went to check it out after Hollywood's birthday breakfast. His Bday was on the 6th but he is so busy working on the PreThingy he had no time to party.

H-wood dropped us off at the AMC, he could not come with cause he committed to seeing it with someone else later in the week.

Michael Cera plays lovably awkward virgin Nick Twisp, he also plays Francois Dillinger, his suave but trouble-making alter ego. Francois exists only to commit the acts Nick could never do himself in order to be with the girl he loves. Cera is going to be huge this year, with Scott Pilgrim coming in August, and he deserves it cause he is fucking excellent. All the supporting cast is great, especially Ray Liota, and Zach Galifianakis.

I loved this movie so much, I'm going to put it in my top ten of the year, already! Now it could get crowded out later but I doubt it. Go see Youth In Revolt and let me know what you think.

Back to the gym and then Daybreakers

I made it back to the gym for the first time in 2010(and since November!). I eased myself into it, so as not to put myself off so quick. I love how my body reacts to working out, I can be super fit in no time if I just stick to it. I love how my body responds to the exercise, and just have to remember to keep fueling it.

I went to see Daybreakers at the Scotiabank Theatre (my aunt gave me a gift card for Christmas, good thinking). It's the vamp-ocalypse movie that I missed when it preemed at the festival back in September. I waited for it so long I couldn't wait any longer, so I went alone when no one else could make it. It was really cool, Ethan Hawke Sam Neill and Willem Dafoe were great and the design of the vampire world was so cool. I would see this again in a heartbeat.

Aww Artie,

I was sick today, I decided not to use the expired NyQuil (2005 vintage). I wretched at the thought of drinking that shit knock-off Robitussin. What I did was drink lots of water and just take it easy. I'm already feeling better, I want to go to the gym tomorrow (for the first time since November, December was so cold and lazy).

Sad news. Artie Lange attempted to take his own life. He has been battling addiction and depression for a long time. I love him so much. He is one of the best parts of the Howard Stern Show. My thoughts are with him and his family and I pray he gets well.

Here are some examples of his genius:

more Metropass and Avatar again.

I volunteered at the CNIB again. Today was busier than yesterday, but no where near Monday's volume.

I went to see Avatar with Granny Mo. It was fun, she really enjoyed it. I liked seeing it a second time. I'm reading a lot of hate from people complaining about the story, all douches who have never written a movie in their life.

Kevin Smith tweeted tickets for his Roy Thompson Hall gig next month are sold out through ticketmaster, but you might still get them from Roy Thompson Hall directly. I got my tickets as soon as they went on sale. His Q&A's are always fantastic and always sell out. He is guaranteed to lay the podium down. With a movie coming out a few weeks later, I'm praying for a Cop Out preview screening at the Bloor.

kitty is fucked up

I love listening to Howard Stern. Music is now just a buffer between Howard's shows on my iPod. I have been a fan forever, but never really able to listen. I technically can't listen to it now. I don't have Sirius, I can't afford it. But if someone wanted to download the show and listen to it for free, I would check fetalsludge. I don't know who I hate more, Ralph or Eric the Midget (but maybe Benjy).

Bassquarter's face is all fucked up cause she's scratching at it. Happy Hardcore says wants to take her to a vet, and we are all expected to pitch in. I love the kitty so I have no problems contributing, but I'm not gonna pay for the whole thing. I think the vet is just going to put a cone on her and give her antibiotics. I said she needed a cone from the beginning but everyone shot me down.

These pictures look worse than it is I assure you. She She kind of looks like Heath Ledger's Joker in the last one which is disconcerting. I will do something about it tomorrow.

Cnib Metropass

I volunteered at the CNIB today. I helped distribute the new 2010 TTC Metropass to clients. Blind people can't drive and have a hard time getting around, so it's nice that the TTC gives blind people a metropass through the CNIB. Being blind myself, I can tell you the pass helps out a lot. I feel like I have to help out, just to give a little back. My job was to record the name and pass number and give people their new card. So many people show up on the very first day, I think a lot of people don't know the old pass is still accepted through January. It was crazy busy all morning and I worked straight through. I'm going in again tomorrow to help out again.

Shania Twain carried the Olympic torch in Timmins on New Years Eve. It would have been nice to be asked. I'm not the most famous dude from Timmins, but to not even be asked. Humbled.

Your Mine Scott Pilgrim!

I took the Go bus back downtown. Mom's place was great but I need a shave!

I met up with Hollywood. His new job starts tomorrow so he's got a car. We drove around for a bit and picked up a few groceries. He gave me all five Scott Pilgrim books. These books are awesome, and I think everyone should check them out before the movie comes out (August, maybe?).
.Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 1: Scott Pilgrim's Precious Little LifeScott Pilgrim, Vol. 2: Scott Pilgrim Versus The World (v. 2)Scott Pilgrim, Vol. 3: Scott Pilgrim & the Infinite Sadness (v. 3)Scott Pilgrim, Vol 4: Scott Pilgrim Gets It TogetherScott Pilgrim Volume 5: Scott Pilgrim vs The Universe (Scott Pilgrim's)

I also now have this stack of DVDRs that prove Love Guru wasn't a total waste of time. I have to go through them rip them and upload them somewhere not youtube.

a slow start.

So far I have spent all of 2010 at my Mom's place drinking ughhh, Coors Light, and eating the last of the Christmas cookies. Paul came over last night ate pizza then promptly passed out. Mom and I have been watching a bunch of movies on TV. I like hanging out with her, it's a good time.

We took down the Christmas tree at my instance. If Mom had her way we would leave the tree up and decorate it for different holidays, like hearts on Valentines or four leaf clovers on St. Patty's Day. The tree had to come down. I would have let it slide for another week, but Mom's cat Mitzy is a retard, and thinks knocking ornaments down is cool.

I have to go home tomorrow. I want to start my gym regimen and get some groceries, and I'm have some business to attend to on Monday.

Happy New Year!

New Years resolutions are some bullshit, people never stick to em. I like the idea of the new year, it's a good time to get some focus on things.

I want to polish the look of this blog, really make it look cool. I need to have more content consistency, more posts with interesting topics and pictures that draw people back day after day. Less of a half assed attitude towards my blogging, I need to use my whole ass.

Prediction for the next decade: By 2019 everyone will wear silver pants and electroluminescent enhanced clothing. People will be dressed like they are going to Burning Man all the time. Super cool.
